Design
THE MANUFACTURER, the UGREEN HiTune X5 TWS wireless earbuds are the flagship model of 2021. They are designed based on user feedback on its past products and offer excellent sound quality with support for the aptX codec based on the Qualcomm QCC3040 chip. You also get a unique design and usability at an affordable price.
The case is small enough to fit in any pocket—material – glossy plastic. Fingerprints remain but are not noticeable and are easily erased. During testing, not a single scratch appeared. There are charging indicators on the front, a pairing button on the back, and a charging connector on the bottom. The lid won’t accidentally open; a magnet holds on to it.
There are no complaints about the assembly. All seams are neat; there are no backlash squeaks. The materials appear to be durable. IPX5 protection keeps the earbuds dry and dry in the rain or sweat.
The UGreen HiTune X6 has chosen an appealing and functional. They haven’t made any design mistakes.
The inflated chassis gives the 10mm carbon driver enough breathing room to provide a “super bass.” In terms of processing, UGreen has done a clean job, as you are used to. Everything fits, don’t creak, doesn’t wobble, and feels excellent. The headphones fit well in the charging case and magnetically dock in the appropriate position. The light on the front doesn’t flash too brightly or frantically but has a gentle fading effect when charging, which can be a bit too bright at night when the room is pitch black.
The LEDs on the headphones, on the other hand, are kept discreet, which does not disturb the sleeping partner at night if you might. Next to it is still on the tablet/mobile phone. Some other headphones have built-in brighter LEDs, which flash constantly and can be annoying. The pairing button on the back is also good and works perfectly.
The assembly of the Ugreen HiTune X6 is of high quality: there are no squeaks, backlashes, or other problems. Nothing will come apart at the seams. A small additional plus is IPX5 moisture protection. You can safely take the headphones for a run, wash your face in them, or get caught in light rain.
Comfort
You can listen to the Ugreen HiTune X5 TWS headphones for about 3 hours in a row without any discomfort. The shape of the cases is ergonomic; the landing is relatively shallow. For many, this will be a plus.
It was impossible to shake out the headphones with active movements; the main thing was choosing the suitable ear pads.
The sound insulation of the Ugreen HiTune X5 is average. You can ride with an intermediate level of music volume. There is almost no sound leakage to the outside. Those who are nearby will hear your music only at a high volume.
The Ugreen HiTune X6 headphones did not tire you around 3 hours of continuous listening. The dock is shallow; the shape is ergonomic if you choose suitable ear pads.
Interestingly, the HiTune X5 included 4 pairs of ear pads. The X6s are securely held in the ears; they won’t fall out on the go. You won’t get lost on the run, either. Yes, and everyone’s ears are different, although my experience, according to experience, is “average.”
Sound
Ugreen HiTune X5 sound good. V-shaped frequency response will appeal to many. The bass is accentuated but not pumped; the upper frequencies are not overwhelmed, the middle is audible. This is already an achievement for budget TWS headphones. AptX here provides an increase in quality. The sound is a little dirtier compared to AAC, and the separation of instruments is worse.
The sound of the Ugreen HiTune X6 is high-quality bass-oriented. Yes, there will be a lot of bass. The frequencies are not strongly pushed behind the bass. In general, the frequency response is V-shaped; for intelligibility, there is an emphasis on the lower treble. But the rise is more gentle on the bass, and you can hear it better.
Controls
The control scheme of the Ugreen HiTune X5 includes triple and even quadruple taps. Complex gestures do not always work, but you can get used to them. 4 taps are rarely needed, but triple touches are relatively common. The circuit has a single touch, so false positives occasionally occur when you put on headphones.
- 1 taps. Any earpiece: start/pause, accept/end a call.
- 2 taps. Right earpiece – increase the volume, left – decrease.
- 3 taps. The right earphone is the next track; the left is the previous one.
- 4 taps. Any headphone: turn on / off the game mode, described below.
- Retention. Any earpiece: reject an incoming call, activate voice assistant.
There is no proprietary application for Ugreen HiTune X5; management cannot be reconfigured. And there are no other functions, such as an equalizer, respectively. But more frustrating is the lack of a smart pause. Power on, power off, source connection, and pairing mode is confirmed by voice prompts.
The control scheme of Ugreen HiTune X6 is not the simplest: there are triple and “quadruple” touches. But you can change the volume, switch tracks, and pause.
- 1 tap.
Any earphones: about 2 seconds – enable/disable active noise reduction, about 4 seconds – voice assistant.
Ugreen HiTune X6 does not have a proprietary application. Although many competitors can customize the controls would not hurt, someone would need an equalizer and so on. There is no smart pause, but you already expect from such headphones.
Volume control and track switching occur without sound signals. Switching modes (gaming / normal) and turning on / off noise reduction is accompanied by voice alerts.
Connectvity
The connection options of the Ugreen HiTune X5 are excellent. Exceptionally pleased with the presence of aptX, this is a rarity in this price segment. Communication is reliable both indoors and outdoors.
- Bluetooth 5.2, SBC, AAC and aptX codecs.
- High-quality communication within a radius of 9-10 meters.
- There is no desynchronization of picture and sound even in games.
- No multipoint: simultaneous connection to 1 source.
- Any earphone can be used separately.
The connection options of the Ugreen HiTune X6 are pleasing. It is strange, of course, that HiTune X5 has aptX, but not here. However, the sound is more affected by the implementation of the driver than the codecs. But the residue remains. The connection is stable.
- Bluetooth 5.1, SBC, AAC codecs.
- High-quality communication within a radius of 9-10 meters.
- No picture and sound out of sync.
- No multipoint: simultaneous connection to 1 source.
- Any earphones can be used separately.
- Working noise reduction.
- There are no settings.
- There is no transparent mode.
The active noise cancellation of the Ugreen HiTune X6 does not impress its quality either. It cuts off low-frequency monotonous hum well—for example, the noise of PC fans, air conditioners, part of the rumble of roads. Voices rustle, subway noise – all this is not blocked, far from the segment’s leaders.

Conclusion!

Is the Ugreen HiTune X6 worth the asking price? Yes. The price is low and justified. Headphones are of high quality; there are no special nitpicks to them. Just do not focus on noise reduction as a decisive factor when buying.
