After last year’s successful TWS headphone models, Oppo decided to continue its good streak by presenting the Oppo Enco X model, created in cooperation with Dynaudio and equipped with an ANC chip. The price has increased accordingly, but the question is: is it worth swallowing?
At first glance, the Oppo Enco X differs from the W31 model because the part protruding from the ear is almost half as long. The actual part with the transducer is slightly larger and differently contoured – the significance of this difference became evident after the first fitting on the headphones – while the W31 required a fairly careful fitting to the ear to provide the insulation necessary for good sound quality, the Enco X was enough to put on, and they were in the correct position almost without help.

The entire Oppo Enco X set reaches the user in a tasteful and stylish black package. Inside, we found a case and a set of silicone covers to allow the headphones to fit the ear canal – in case; it was required to change to the L size. The case includes, of course, a built-in battery to recharge the headphones, a coil for wireless charging the whole thing, a USB-C socket for cable supporters, and – of course – headphones inside.
A closed case resembles a small soap – and unfortunately, it can be similarly slippery. It is made of high-gloss white plastic with only a small strip of matte silver material. The headphones are also made similarly, but there will be much less opportunity to scratch them.

The process of connecting Oppo Enco X with a smartphone can take two steps, depending on which smartphone we connect it with. Users of Oppo equipment are privileged – in this case, after opening the case and bringing it closer to the smartphone with Bluetooth enabled, the appropriate prompt will automatically appear on the screen.
Users of other Android devices and iPhone owners must manually search for the device in the list. The headphones remember several devices and allow you to easily switch between the two most recently used by tapping and holding the touchpad for three seconds.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer made it difficult to operate devices other than their own – access to all headphone capabilities directly from the system is provided only in smartphones with ColorOS. The rest of Android users are doomed to the external HeyMelody application and iPhone owners – to grinding their teeth, as the application is not available on iOS.
Therefore, although Oppo Enco X supports as many as four noise reduction modes (off, permeable, light, and strong), apple users only have the ANC in the permeable or full-power mode at their disposal by default, to change the default settings, they have to help themselves with another smartphone – Oppo definitely did not do the job here.
Apart from the issue of choosing the ANC mode, the operation is quite convenient – a single short touch of the panels is used to skip tracks, a second hold switches the ANC mode, a three-second one switches the sound source, and touch and swipe on the panel is responsible for the volume control – unfortunately, the volume control worked the weakest.

The manufacturer specifies the working time with the maximum ANC active for about 4 hours at 50% of the maximum volume. However, this seems to be a very conservative estimate – at 40-50% settings.

Oppo Enco X supports LHDC, AAC, and SBC codecs. Working with the AAC codec and the old Android smartphone solved the ANC mode switching. Using Enco X, you can watch movies and listened to music from Apple Music and Tidal.
Conclusion!
Oppo Enco X are very decent headphones with pleasant characteristics and good efficiency of the ANC system. They are also probably the first TWS headphones that fit my ears so perfectly – they are very comfortable and do not try to run away.
The presence of an effective, transparent mode and small size make Oppo Enco X a good choice if we like to listen to music and ride a bike.
So are these headphones without flaws? Of course not – and the main thing is the rather exorbitant price to pay for them. At this price, you can consider the already mentioned Sony WF-1000XM3, which plays more neutral in ANC mode, have better ANC efficiency and have control software for iOS.
