Detailed ReviewLenovo ThinkPad X1 NanoLenovo ThinkBook 15P

Design & Features

The ThinkPad X1 Nano is extremely lightweight and compact.  The ThinkPad X1 Nano is 13 inches and weighs a little over 900g. As you can see when you bring it, it is one rank higher in portability than the X1 Carbon. Maybe it’s about 2 ranks higher.

The CPU installed in the ThinkPad X1 Nano is Core i7-1160G7. This may be a bit unfamiliar model number, but it’s a UP4 Intel 11th Generation Core processor. Positioned to correspond to the Y series of Core processors up to the 10th generation, the Operating Range is lower, and power-saving is lower than the 11th generation Core processor of UP3.

The size of the display is 13 inches. It’s smaller than 13.3 inches, common for mobile notebook PCs.

The resolution is 2160 x 1350 pixels, and there is no common name such as “Full HD” or “WQHD.” Although it is written as “2K” on the product page, the pixel ratio is about 1.4 times full HD.

According to the official specifications, it is 100% sRGB, and the brightness is 450 nits.

The battery drive time is the nominal value, and it is said to be up to about 22 hours. However, since the nominal value does not assume actual use, the drive time tends to be shorter in actual use.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano

The ThinkBook 15p is a notebook PC with specifications that rank higher than general notebook PCs. You will be able to finish the work that puts a heavy load on your PC quickly.

In addition, it is a notebook PC with specifications that are just right as an introductory machine for video editing, games, photo editing, etc. As for the screen, in addition to the sRGB 100% class FHD display, you can also select the Adobe RGB 100% class 4K-UHD display.

The body color of ThinkBook 15P is mineral gray. It has a slightly dark silver-like metallic hue. The top plate is made of aluminum, and the palm rest and bottom are made of resin (plastic) material.

The screen size is 15.6 inches, and the resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels. This is the most standard specification for a notebook PC. The desktop characters’ size is about 2 to 2.7 mm (scaling 125%). It’s a little smaller than the newspaper (3.3-3.7mm), but I didn’t find it difficult to read.

The interface (terminals) for connecting peripheral devices has a sufficient configuration. It is not compatible with optical drives and VGA (D-sub 15 pin), but since there are few opportunities to use it these days, there will be few situations where it will be particularly troublesome. There are 5 USB ports in total, 2 of which are Type-C. This should be enough for deferred use.

There are two USB Type-C terminals, but only one (on the right) supports video output and USB charging. Low wattage chargers and mobile batteries can take a long time to charge, so you need a high wattage product.

The battery life is nominally about 11.3 hours. The drive time measurement test of this site was about 10 to 11 hours. This results from high-performance conditions with high battery consumption, so it should be fairly close to the actual drive time.

Conclusion!

The ThinkPad X1 Nano is a mobile notebook PC that is the lightest in the history of the ThinkPad series and has a large mass of about 907g. Other companies’ models also feature lightness, but the ThinkPad X1 Nano is not just light. Equipped with a 2K LCD with an aspect ratio of 16:10, you can choose a 4G LTE or 5G communication module.

It has a small interface, only USB-C and a microphone/headphone jack. When using cables such as USB-A and HDMI and peripheral devices, an adapter etc., is required.

Despite its lightweight, compact and stylish appearance for the ThinkBook 15P  it is attractive for its high robustness that clears the MIL standard. Another point is that the parts can be customized to create a highly high-performance model. The price is relatively reasonable, but it can be said that the contents are equivalent to the ThinkPad, which is a model for high-end businesses. Recommended as a solid business PC.

It is a pity that the standard memory capacity is up to 8GB, and 16GB or more models are not available.
