Today we have two new products of the HP from the 13-inch laptop segment. We will compare the HP Envy x360 13 – 2020 and HP Spectre x360 13 – 2020 to know which one is truly worthy of your consideration.

HP Envy x360 13
The HP Envy x-360 13-inch is the 13 z model specifically HP has been doing great things with the envy and it gets even better in part. Because we have the new AMD rise in 4000 series CPU inside the otherwise known very fast excellent performance. There and keeps the price reasonable but beyond that, they’ve done a redesign just like they did with the Spectre X360 last year. So this distance over here is over 17 millimeters shorter and it reduces the bottom chin bezel that used to be kind of large beyond that you’ve got a metal casing.

The latest edition of the famous HP Spectral 360 13-inch version now has always been a great machine but in this 2020 model, HP brought it to the next level. The first thing that you notice right away is the chassis redesign the machine now has a considerably smaller footprint thanks to the cutting of the bezels and this thing just looks stunning much more premium and up-to-date than last year’s model. With the thick bezels with an impressive screen to body ratio of 90, the machine is now smaller and lighter at 1.3 kilograms which help tremendously considering. This is a two-in-one device tablet mode now feels much more natural on the hands but we still think that HP has got to figure out something to do with the keyboard when it’s in tablet mode because it still gets in the way anyway a much better tablet experience than last year.

HP Envy x360 13
The 13.3” 1080p IPS touch screen is glass and has a glossy finish, so fingerprints will show up if you touch it. It worked fine for me as a touch screen and felt responsive, but does not come with a pen, though HP does sell some. In terms of display performance, it got 96% of sRGB, 73% of AdobeRGB, and 73% of DCI-P3. It was bright enough at full brightness and had an 840:1 contrast ratio, so it looked pretty good. Backlight bleed wasn’t bad at all, you will never notice the small imperfections when viewing darker content, but this will vary between laptops and panels. It can’t quite be opened up with one finger, and of course, due to the 360 degree hinge the screen goes the full way back. This lets you use it in normal laptop mode, reverse mode, tent mode, or tablet mode. Screen flex was minor owing to the solid metal lid, and the keyboard wasn’t too bad either, it feels quite sturdy.
HP Spectre x360 13
This thing has a multi-touch display which is also quite fast and responsive but we find the screen surface, not the smoothest to slide your finger across. It’s a little sticky a little resistant one good thing is the glass screen doesn’t get dirty very quickly with sweats and fingerprints compared to many other two in one touch screen that you’ve used it. If your hands sweat a lot you can always use the stylus that HP includes with the machine it’s quite nice for basic use but we don’t expect this to satisfy any professional drawing modeling of things like that. It also has done really well with the true joint hinge while it’s not exactly one hand openable it’s firm and supports the screen really well so screen wobbling when touching in clamshell mode is noticeably less in this one than in other convertible devices. The 360-degree turn is also nice and smooth and we really like how it snaps into position very satisfying moving. On to the next special thing about the 2020 Spectre this year you could get the amazing 4k AMOLED display with lower configurations which is great not everyone would need a high spec but many of us would like to experience this beautiful display.

The HP Envy x360 is a premium 2-in-1 device featuring AMD’s latest Ryzen 4000 processors. You will get the 6 core 12 thread Ryzen 5 4500 here, so you will able to hit levels of performance that were previously unheard of in a 13-inch machine. The build quality feels great, the lid, interior, and bottom panel are all metal with a dark finish, and there weren’t any sharp corners or edges. It weighed in just under 1.25kg or 2.7lb, and then about 1.55kg or 3.4lb total once we add in the small 65-watt power brick and cables for charging. It’s on the thinner side which we thought was quite impressive given. It’s got that 6 core processor inside, and the smaller footprint results in 6mm thin screen bezels on the sides. The slimmer sides combined with the weight made it awkward to hold from the sides with one hand, two hands on the sides or one on the bottom was alright but it still felt a bit weighty as a tablet, and the keys on the back don’t feel great when holding it in tablet mode.

its base model comes with an intel core i5 processor and 8 gigs of ram and two 56 gigs SSD but it’s equipped with this to die for AMOLED display. It’s so immersive with vibrant colors covering most of the popular gamuts’ deep legs good contrast and very high brightness you could definitely buy this for high-level graphics works. But your eyes get tired very fast when you will look at an OLED display especially in smaller screen sizes like this where you have to look at it closely maybe the colors are too vibrant. So it puts more screens on your eyes peoples always enjoy OLED much more on a large tv screen nevertheless you do get used to it to a certain degree.

The Envy comes with HP Command Center software installed, which lets you pick between four performance modes, recommended, performance, comfort, and quiet. Ryzen Controller here to try and get a little extra boost and it helped a bit. When we look at how it stacks up against others, it’s ahead of all the quad-core machines but behind the more powerful 6 core options, however, the single-core performance was close to those higher tier machines. Although not a gaming laptop by any means, you can get away with some light 1080p gaming with the Radeon graphics with lower settings, some heavier games would likely be possible too if you’re willing to drop the resolution down to say 720p, but either way still an impressive result for an integrated graphic in a 13-inch machine.

Performance is really good in this year’s i5 model a workload of multiple Chrome tabs, Microsoft office, and Adobe photoshop illustrator, and lightroom at medium levels are comfortably executed by this machine. You can run premiere quite well with basic editing to a very good performance for a convertible thin and light ultrabook for entertaining purposes. This model is also upgraded to the intel iris plus graphics so you can run lighter game titles very well. The fans also run very quietly which is a great thing for a laptop like this. The only complaint you will have is that the machine can run quite hard especially at the bottom so you should really refrain from using it on your laps especially during extended and more intensive walking sessions. Nevertheless, heating is almost unavoidable in a thin and light laptop like this, especially with more powerful hardware.

Both of these devices come with the nearly same connectivity options. There’s a fingerprint scanner tucked in between the right alt and arrow keys, which we found to work fast and from different angles with no problem. The precision touchpad worked well, no problems there. It clicks down anywhere and is using most of the available space. Fingerprints and dirt show up on the matte finish, but has a smooth surface it’s not too difficult to clean with a microfiber cloth. On the left from the back, there’s a 3.5mm audio combo jack, USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port, and USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port with DisplayPort 1.4 support, and Type-C can also be used to charge the machine, no Thunderbolt though.
On the right, there’s a MicroSD card slot, a second USB 3.2 Gen1 Type-A port, and the power input. Both of the Type-A ports have a little latch that you need to push down to plug something in. Inside we’ve got the battery down the bottom, and above it to the left single M.2 storage slot, and WiFi 5 card, memory is soldered to the motherboard though, which is pretty typical for a 13” device so make sure you get it with what you need. The speakers are down here too towards the front on the left and right sides. They sounded decent for the size of the machine, above average with some bass, and the latency on results was looking good too.

Both of these devices are powered by a 4-Cell 55Wh battery, and it was holding up well when compared to others with bigger batteries, lasting for more than 9 hours in the YouTube playback and online video streaming. It will last for more than 2 hours with gaming.

Alright with all of that in mind let’s conclude by considering the good and the bad to help you decide if the Envy x360 is worth considering. Overall, this is a solid machine with not many issues. Before Ryzen 4000 this level of processing power in a thinner 13-inch device like this was simply not possible. It doesn’t run too hot even under heavy stress tests and doesn’t get too loud, but either way, there is some level of user choice available there.
The Radeon graphics allow you to perform some tasks like light gaming. Build quality was great, battery life was excellent, the touchscreen in this model, keyboard, and the touchpad was good, speakers were above average, and of course, you’ve got the option of using it in four different modes. It was a bit heavier for me personally in tablet mode, but it would definitely be easier to handle than the larger 15-inch model. So all things considered, we could definitely recommend the Envy x360 if you need a smaller portable machine, it’s got a lot going for it without many downsides.
HP Spectre x360 13
This machine worth buying it’s obviously a great product but it also comes with a pretty steep price tag. The base model without the 4k AMOLED display already starts at 1200 us dollars and still yes we think this is a worth buying machine maybe it doesn’t have the highest spec for the price but what hp provides with this premium product of theirs is the attention to details in order to give consumers the best user experience.
