Design & Features
Dell Alienware M15 R5- The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 is Dell’s premium gaming laptop series, featuring a high degree of design. Although it has a high spec configuration of Ryzen 9 5900HX + RTX 3070 Laptop at the maximum, the thickness of the body is relatively slim at about 22.85 mm at the highest part.
It has a futuristic design, such as the alien-marked power button and the protruding part on the back, bordered by LED lights.
GeForce RTX 30 series graphics will vary in actual performance depending on the maximum graphics power set by the manufacturer for each model. Therefore, it is recommended to check the maximum graphics power if possible.
The maximum graphic power of the GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop with the Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 was 130W.
The QHD 240Hz LCD has a high resolution and enables a more pleasing display. It also has a high refresh rate of 240Hz, so if you have a light e-sports title, you may be able to play with a very smooth image at a high frame rate of 200 fps or more.
The Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 has free M.2 SSD slots in addition to your existing storage. The image below shows that the empty slot also has a heat sink.
In customization, you can not select dual SSD configuration, but it seems that you can add M.2 SSD after purchase to make a dual SSD configuration. However, please note that you are responsible for adding M.2 SSDs.
It is equipped with a full-size keyboard with a slightly deeper keystroke of about 1.8 mm. It also features N-key rollover and anti-ghost technology.
It has one USB-C port. It does not support Power Delivery or Thunderbolt, but it supports DisplayPort and can be connected to an external display.
The manufacturer’s site states, “Minimum weight: 2.42kg | Maximum weight: 2.69kg”. The mass measured on this site is as follows. It’s a little heavy for a 15.6-inch gaming laptop. The AC adapter also has a high output, so it is heavy.
The battery capacity is as large as 86Wh.
There is no webcam shutter. It also has an IR camera and can use Windows Hello face recognition. The webcam is a standard 1280 x 720 HD camera. The skin color is a little dark, and the details are a little rough, but I think it is a general performance for a Web camera installed in a laptop computer.
The speakers are equipped with 2W x 2 stereo speakers on the left and right sides of the bottom. The sound quality is a little good, and the score is 5 to 6 out of 10 based on the notebook PC (5 is average. The evaluation of sound quality is subjective. Please note).
Lenovo Legion 5- The Lenovo Legion 5 is a high-performance gaming notebook PC with a wide range of performance models from entry to middle spec to high end. It is easy to find one that suits your budget and purpose.
The display is equipped with an IPS liquid crystal display and has a wide color gamut so that you can enjoy gameplay and videos.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 is the most expensive, but it supports the latest ray tracing and DLSS. The performance is also very high, so it is a good choice for those who want to play the game well or enjoy even a little better graphics.
With a high-quality graphics setting (notebook PC) and a resolution of 1920 x 1080, the score was 16565 (very comfortable), and the average frame rate was as high as 126.1fps. You will be able to play very comfortably.
The Lenovo Legion 5 is equipped with Intel’s Core i7-10750H as the CPU. It is a CPU that shows exceptionally high performance, especially the Core i7-10750H offers more than 70% higher performance than the Core i7-10510U, etc., installed in general notebook PCs.
And as mentioned above, it is also equipped with high-performance graphics, so it is possible to process work with a high load on the CPU and graphics at high speed.
For example, you can take advantage of high CPU performance to execute calculation processes that take a long time to complete at a higher speed. Since the graphics (GPU) performance is also high, it can also be used for programming applications such as AI and machine learning that utilize the GPU.
The body color of the Lenovo Legion 5 is based on gray and black. There is a Legion logo on the top plate.
The same is true for the keyboard, where the hand is placed (palm rest) is gray, and the keys are black. Some people may think of a gaming laptop as having a flashy design, but the Lenovo Legion 5 has an overall calm impression.
When it comes to the design of a gaming notebook PC, the logo on the top plate and its logo shine; other than that, the design feels calm.
Not only can you connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi, but you can also connect by inserting a LAN cable because it also has a wired LAN port.
Wi-Fi is compatible with the popular Wi-Fi 5 (11ac) and the latest communication standard, Wi-Fi 6 (11ax). Using an 11ax compatible router enables extremely high-speed communication.
There are 4 standard size USB ports and 1 Type-C port, which is very fulfilling. You can connect multiple devices simultaneously, so you can rest assured.
SD card slot is not installed. Please prepare an external SD card reader separately if you want to use the Legion 5 for editing photos and videos taken with a digital camera or camcorder.
The Lenovo Legion 5 has an HDMI port, so you can easily make a presentation by connecting it to a monitor or projector with an HDMI cable.
The Lenovo Legion 5 does not have a camera. Therefore, please prepare an external WEB camera separately to participate in online classes using video calling software such as Zoom and Teams.
Conclusion!
It is the first AMD Ryzen-equipped machine in the ALIENWARE series, Dell’s premium gaming notebook PC. It’s a bit cheaper to get than the Intel model with the same graphics, but it still has high processing performance.
The design is high, and the lighting is excellent, especially in a dark place.
As for gaming performance, it has performance from the entry class to the high middle class. It was equipped with RTX 3070, but it was increased with a maximum graphics power of 130W.
In the check this time, even in heavy games, 60 fps or more was output with a high image quality setting, so it seems that many games can be played comfortably.
The operating noise was high, the surface temperature was high, and the palms tended to get hot.
The Lenovo Legion 5 is equipped with a high-performance CPU and graphics so that you can enjoy gameplay very comfortably.
Since you can choose from GeForce RTX 2060, it can be used by a wide range of players, from beginners to advanced players.
The display is equipped with an IPS liquid crystal display with a wide color gamut and is easy to see. You can enjoy games and videos. If you are looking for a gaming laptop, please consider it.
