Design
When we talk about Corsair, we have to talk about design, but first of all, we will see the box’s contents. Here we notice necessary accessories:

This in itself is simple and sufficient content. You should know that this headset is only wired, so it is normal to have only that in accessories.
Let’s move on to the design of this Corsair HS65 Surround. Without RGB, this one is rather sober, adorned with white and a little touch of chrome on each earpiece. The Corsair HS65 Surround is a circum-aural headset, which covers the entire ear.
Now, let’s start with the hoop. This one is completely covered with excellent quality plastic, though. There is a leatherette part at the headrest.
As for the branches of the headset, they are made of aluminum and very good quality. Height adjustment is done directly in the roll bar and not outside. This is a point to note because it adds a qualitative side to the headset.
Let’s talk about the earbuds; we notice that they are symmetrical, and at first glance, it offers optimal comfort. In the left earpiece, we find the microphone. This one is standard and is relatively thin and flexible stem-shaped. It is not retractable or other; via a very discreet storage system, just slide it up if you want to stop using it.
Below the microphone is the power cable and a sound volume management dial. Here no Bluetooth or even 2.4 GHz. Only the 3.5 mm jack connector presents and is the only one that can supply the headphones with audio.
On the right ear, there is nothing. It has no buttons or dials. There are earbuds very well padded and extremely comfortable, thanks to its alliance of two materials (leatherette and fabrics).” Overall there is a plastic design appearance and metal in the skeleton to strengthen the headset. It’s standard, but always good to notify it.
The head support is strong, all playing on remarkable flexibility. The overall design of the earcups is excellent. I like the presence of the chrome part of the Corsair HS65 Surround on which we find the logo of the brand.
An adapter is supplied with the headset; it allows you to switch from a 3.5 mm jack connector to a USB-A. This means that it can be used with smartphones and also computers. This is ideal for carrying only one headset for both possibilities of use.
Audio quality
Headphones must have correct audio quality and optimal comfort. A headset is often worn for several hours in a row, so it is very important to have a good sound and outstanding comfort. First, it should be noted that the headphones isolate many external sounds even though there is no active noise reduction. Honestly, noise reduction is ideal for music headphones; however, it is not necessary for gaming headsets.
Regarding pure sound quality. It is excellent for a headset, around 90 USD on the manufacturer’s website. The mids are very well managed, even perfectly well, it is the same for the treble, which does very well, and I have never felt an increase in treble too drastic, to the point of being unpleasant.
As for the bass, these are present and deliver a dynamic and powerful sound environment. Particularly powerful because the speakers have a sensitivity of 111 dB. It is a very strong sensitivity, and I tell you that you will use this headset for up to 50% of its volume.
In gaming, the 50mm speakers deliver more than decent sound quality. The 3.5mm female USB-A jack adapter provides access to multi-channel 7.1 sound. However, this technology is only available and compatible with Windows, Linux computers and Macs.
In the end, the Corsair HS65 Surround delivers a nice and powerful sound. It does not lack depth and allows a carefree musical and gaming use.
Microphone
The quality of the microphone is clearly in line with the audio quality of the headphones. That is, the microphone is excellent too. It allows you to chat with your friends on Discord with peace of mind and record very little ambient sound.
In any case, the microphone is good and will be used in a large number of conditions. If, however, you use it on public transport (metro/bus) you will be more likely to disturb other users than your interlocutor.
Comfort of use
When talking about a headset dedicated to video games, it is expected to be used for long hours. Since I have this headset on my ears, I have played more than 3 hours of video games and music when writing this HS65 test. That’s long enough to realize the headsets overall comfort, and I still haven’t felt the need to remove it.
Given the weight of 282 grams and the materials used, it is very little felt on the ears. Only a slight, very slight pressure on the top of the skull is noticed but does not hurt, even long-term.
iCue Software
The iCue Software is the proprietary Software of the Corsair brand. This allows you to set up and configure the headset easily. Once the Software is downloaded to your device, all that remains is to plug in the headset and open the Software.
Subsequently, we find the sound settings and the type of equalization you want. If you are not too comfortable with manual adjustment, Corsair has rather well-made presets.
