As usual, let’s start things off with a build now this is where Redmi has always traditionally had an edge thanks to their premium glass design but this time they have decided to save money and instead opt for a plastic build on the Redmi Note 9. We get the same aura balance design with the square camera bump to the back but now there’s a fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the camera module the rest though has a glossy gradient finish that’s kind of similar to what we have on the Redmi Note 9 Pro. On the flip side, we have the Real Me 6i also made out of plastic the design here is identical to the Realme 6 although the gradient backs have now been swapped with solid black and white. in hand, they both feel kind of similar after all, the Realme 6i is only about 8 grams lighter than the Redmi note 9.
We have similar looking screens as well as note 9 is just a hair larger at 6.53 inches but overall what we have here are two full HD plus IPS panels with a punch hole to the top left that holds the selfie camera now. Realme has stepped up their game here the 6.5-inch screen here is not only brighter than the one on the Redmi Note 9 it also carries over the 90-hertz refresh rate.
Performance

When it comes processor we have a MediaTek processor inside both. The Realme 6i is running on the Helio G90T while the Redmi Note 9 runs on the Helio G85 chipset as the name suggests the G90T is the more powerful chipset both in benchmarks and in real life.
The more powerful processor means the experience on the Realme 6i a tad better that’s something that can be felt even while gaming the 4 core Mali G76 GPU on the G90T offers a much better experience compared to the Dual Core Mali G52 GPU on the G85, it’s noticeable when playing Pubg at HD graphics settings with a high frame rate.
The software experience on both phones is decent we have Realme UI on the Realme 6i while the Note 9 comes with MiUI 11 out of the box both based on android 10. Now both these devices do come with pre-loaded apps and we are all aware of the ad situation that being said both are feature-rich UI’s so once more this boils down to personal preference.

When it comes to cameras the Redmi Note 9 does win out on a few occasions like selfies and 1080p video capture but the real miss 6i has a lot more features including some very useful ones like 4k video recording and ultra steady video which means the Realme 6i is better than Redmi Note 9 in camera setup.
Multimedia
Realme 6i | Redmi Note 9 | |
Headphone jack | 3.5 mm | 3.5 mm |
Loudspeaker | Yes | Yes |
Audio Features | Dolby Atmos | |
Face Unlock | Yes | Yes |
When it comes to speaker quality both phones come with a headphone jack and an FM radio, the music quality through the headphone is comparable as far as call quality goes none of the handsets gave us any trouble.

Capacity | 4300 mAh | 5020 mAh |
Type | Li-ion | Li-ion |
Quick Charging | Yes, Flash, 30W: 100 % in 55 minutes | Yes |
Battery life though is one area where Redmi holds the edge it’s got a 17 bigger battery and that when combined with a less power-hungry chip and a standard 60hz display should give us around 20 percent better battery. Both the 5020 mAh unit inside the Redmi Note 9, as well as the 4300 mAh inside the Realme 6i, should be good enough to last a single day on a full charge.
The Note 9 comes with a 22.5-watt charger in the box as for the Realmi 6i comes with a 20-watt fast charger but it does have support or up to a 30-watt fast charger that can get it from 0 to 100 percent in 55 minutes.
While Note 9 isn’t as fast when it comes to charging speeds it’s only limited to 18 watts but it’s got a bigger battery that lasts longer and on top of that it also supports 9-watt reverse charging via the type c port.

Which is better!
If you really want that IR blaster or the higher capacity battery or if selfies are that important to you then go for the Redmi Note 9 it’s a pretty decent device but for everyone else we suggest the Realme 6i is more powerful with a higher refresh rate panel and offers a lot of camera flexibility.
