Twitter To Allow Media Publishers To Charge Users Per Article

Elon Musk says that this Twitter option will allow the media to earn money from users who are not their subscribers.

Elon Musk has announced that he will allow news outlets to charge Twitter users for access to individual articles they post on the social network.

The function, according to the head of the platform, is that publishers can get more money or encourage users to subscribe to their own monthly payments.

Do you want to support the media?

The feature, to be rolled out in May ( Twitter ) will allow media publishers to charge users per article with a single click,” Elon Musk said in a tweet. “This allows users who would not sign up for a monthly subscription to pay a higher price per article when they want to read the occasional article.”

“It should be a great advantage for both media organizations and the public,” he concluded.

At the moment, details are scant beyond pointing out that the feature will be rolled out in the next month.

It is also unclear what kind of accounts and media outlets might offer these types of paid items. In addition, it is unknown how much Twitter would charge as a commission.

To turn off

Twitter , under Musk’s leadership, has been introducing more and more paid features to increase revenue.

The most popular case is that your verification badge now comes as a benefit to your $8/month Blue subscription.

Twitter also shut down its free API to launch a new one that users would have to pay for. It would cost business customers nearly $50,000 per month to access the new API , so some organizations and businesses, like the New York City Transportation Authority, chose to end the Twitter integration and abandon the website.
