How To Fix A Blurred Home Screen On iOS 16

iOS 16 lets us blur the iPhone home screen background. By default, configuring a lock screen blurs the iPhone’s home screen background. With iOS 16 or later, the iPhone settings app lets us customize the home screen wallpaper.

One of the Home screen customization options is the ability to display it with blur. In other words, we can show a photo as the home screen background, but instead of showing it as is, we can blur it so that it appears blurred. This can be very helpful if we use a photo that makes it hard to tell the difference between the background and the icons of the apps we have installed and can see on the home screen.

Some people don’t like the feature because the blur is too strong and covers up all the details of the wallpaper. Luckily, it’s very easy and straightforward to turn off the blurry wallpaper on the Home Screen.

Turning off Home Screen wallpaper blur is easy

  • Unlock your iPhone and go to the Settings app.
  • Within Settings you have to select the option: Wallpaper

Settings

  • On this screen the two options will be displayed: Customize Left Button (lock screen) and Customize Right Button (home screen).
  • Click on the Customize button on the right.
  • This will take you to the iPhone home screen editor.
  • Here you can select from 4 options: Original, Color, Gradient and Photos.
  • To use the Blur option you will have to select the option:
  1. Photos: Allows you to select an image or photo stored on your iPhone.
