The Beyerdynamic Team Tygr is a set consisting of the Tygr 300 R headphones and the Fox USB microphone. While the microphone can also be purchased separately, the headphones are only available in this bundle.

The Tygr 300 R headphones appear to be a Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro in a new appearance. At least the design and the open construction, which are characteristic of the headphones, suggest this. The weight of 290 grams is also typical for both headphones, and we found other similarities in the sound characteristics.

Compared to the DT 990 Pro, however, the Tygr 300 R has a somewhat more modern design and relies on a black finish with orange accents behind the perforated earpiece cover.

The Tygr 300 R headphones have a striking, Beyerdynamic-typical design and quality features such as the aluminum hearing forks. The connection cable is firmly attached to the left earpiece and measures 1.6 meters.

Classic black design with a bit of orange behind the perforated grille of the ear cups. Impeccable material and processing quality are just a few things that make the TYGR 300 R special. The cushions are again made of Velcro and give the whole thing that extra, and not just in terms of looks, because velcro is by far the best thing you can use in headphones. The inner area of the auricle, which rests directly on the ear, is also perfectly padded.

The TYGR 300 R is mostly made of high-quality plastic. The headband is made of light spring steel and thus enables almost perfect flexibility. Even if you have a rather large head circumference, there should be no problems with the new TYGR 300 R. The new TYGR 300 R can be adjusted in nine steps directly between the headband and the ear cups, so there should be the right setting for everyone.

The headband is also covered but with artificial leather. The artificial leather is very soft and has equally soft padding underneath. This time, the TYGR 300 R was not fastened with buttons but with a Velcro fastener.

Finally, as usual, we come to the cable and the plug. The plug is again gold-plated, as is known from Beyerdynamic. Here you can choose between a 3.5mm jack and a 6.35mm jack, use the included adapter or not.

The cable is only 1.60m long and is relatively short compared to the DT 990 pro and the MMX300.

A 50mm large, a dynamic driver with a neodymium magnet takes care of the sound conversion. Its impedance of just 32 ohms can also be used for mobile purposes and covers a wide frequency range from 5 Hz to 35 kHz. So we would have examined both subjects extensively and now come to the practical and sound check.

Comfort

The new TYGR 300 R, with its 290 grams, is not relatively as light as the DT 990 Pro, which we highly praised; the TYGR 300 R doesn’t have to hide. The new TYGR 300 R is just as perfect and easy to wear as the DT 990 Pro headphones. Here you could rave about angelic things again, but let’s leave it at that, even if the TYGR 300 R can be carried just as well.

Beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R Headphones Review 5

The TYGR 300 R lies loosely on the head, and the ear cups feel supple thanks to the velcro. Even if you always have to consider the shape of the head, because it will be different for everyone. In no situation did we hear a great deal of pressure on the head or the ear. It’s possible to forget that you have a headset on because it feels so light as a feather that it can happen quickly.

Sound

The sound is characterized by a well-accented spatial image, which always provides an acoustic overview in hectic battles. Due to the open design, not only do roommates hear what is heard, but you can also hear everyone “in” the headphones themselves. The stimuli generated by the sound transducer have a specific depth gradation, effects are placed clearly and precisely in the “listening room” and offer a high level of detail in the reproduction.

In addition, there is a perfect punch, which brings a lot of dynamics and harmoniously rounds off the sound image.

The sound is always very authentic; medium and high-frequency ranges are structured and, at the same time, peppered with many details. The bass is dynamic and contoured, crisp in expression but never dull or boomy. Even pure hi-fi enthusiasts should get their money’s worth.

But the headphones not only ensure well-being in the ears, but the TYGR 300R also convinces with a comfortable fit on the ears. Thanks to the soft padding and the consistent contact pressure, nothing is uncomfortable even after 4-5 hours of wearing.

The adjustment mechanism of the temples also offers enough space for larger heads. However, the disadvantage of the material selected for the ear cups at high temperatures also becomes apparent.

In contrast to (artificial) leather or other moisture-repellent materials, the textile cover is a veritable sponge and absorbs the secreted bodily fluids nicely. In addition, the fabric used is not necessarily breathable. It’s good that you can easily replace or change the upholstery.

Tygr 300 R vs DT 990 PRO

The Beyerdynamic Tygr and DT 990 Pro have other things in common. According to the manufacturer, both cover a frequency range of five to 35,000 Hertz. The sound pressure level of 96 dB and the impedance of 32 ohms are further similarities.

Regardless of how similar both headphones are, the Tygr 300 R sounds very good to us (like the DT 990 PRO). The open construction provides a broad stage, which creates an excellent spatial impression.

Due to its excellent sound tuning, the Tygr 300 R is also ideal for listening to music and proves to be a true all-rounder overall, whether it’s playing games, watching films, or listening to music.

Conclusion!

The beyerdynamic TYGR 300 R gaming headset is impressive in terms of sound quality. If you are planning to move in the direction of streamers anyway, you can definitely get the part.

The brand new TYGR 300 R combines classic design, as known from the MMX300, and upgrades it a bit optically. The open design and a mesh grid which has an orange background. The TYGR 300 R weighs only 290 grams, making it a very light headphone that is very comfortable to wear. Soft cushions ensure that everyone will immediately fall in love with the TYGR 300 R.

From a technical point of view, the TYGR 300 R is also a sly old dog. Clean highs and mids and a subtle and not too intrusive bass round off perfectly. As usual, the quality is very high, and the materials used are harmonious in the concept.

The Beyerdynamic Team TYGR is suitable for anyone who values high voice quality and tonal capabilities. With a price of around 169 USD, you are moving in a fair price structure.
