Method 1: Shortcut context menu
The easiest way to disable the Google Assistant app is to remove it from the software list via the home screen. To do this, do the following:
- Open the menu, which displays the icons of all installed applications on Android. Find the voice assistant “Assistant“, click on its icon and hold for a second. A pop-up menu will appear where you need to select the “Turn off” item
- Then confirm the action.
The removal procedure through the main menu may differ depending on the device model and the version of the Android shell installed on it.
Method 2: System “Settings”
The Google Assistant voice assistant on Android devices can be uninstalled in the standard way with installed applications. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Go to the ” Settings ” section through the main menu or the top curtain, go to the “Settings“ section. Select a subsection with applications.
- Find “Assistant“ and tap on its name in the list of installed software. At the top or bottom of the window, find and click on the “Delete“ button.
- Confirm the action in the pop-up window.
You can also temporarily stop its operation through the application settings window by clicking on the corresponding button. Still, it will be launched the next time you turn on your smartphone. Using the “Memory“ section , it is possible to delete temporary files that take up storage space, while the Assistant itself will remain in place.
Method 3: Third-Party Applications
More experienced users can use third-party solutions to remove the Assistant since not all shells allow you to erase it once and for all. Sometimes, through the system “Settings“, you can only restore the application’s version to its original state. As a rule, such applications are removed only on devices with root.Â
Method 4: Disabling the Assistant
Google Assistant may work on some smartphones but not show up as a standalone in the app drawer. In such a situation, you can turn it off through the Google app or possibly the Android Settings (this option varies by the shell). We talked about deactivating the Assistant without deleting it in a separate article at the link below.
