The EarFun Air Pro 2 offers a lot for less than $100, including ANC and wireless charging. Even if the sound is good overall, the sluggish operation and carrying detection and the much too slippery charging case are annoying in everyday life.

With dimensions of 52.0 × 65.0 × 31.8 mm, the charging case of the EarFun Air Pro 2 is slightly smaller than its predecessor, which measures 55.0 × 67.0 × 31.0 mm; however, it is significantly larger than the 34.6 × 63.9 × 28.2 mm model of the Jabra Elite 3. The EarFun Air Pro 2 use oval silicone inserts that seal the ear canal without being pressed into it. This means that it is comfortable to wear, but unlike the AirPods Pro, it is not entirely without a feeling of pressure.

An IPX5 certification guarantees that the EarFun Air Pro 2 can also be worn in the rain and not be damaged by sweat while exercising. However, they are not waterproof, which is why they must not be submerged.
The dynamic drivers in the earphones measure 10 mm in diameter. Six microphones, three on each earpiece, are supposed to ensure good telephony, in which ambient noise filtered. A unique wind detection system should also ensure that wind noises are not passed on to the wearer’s ears in the transparency mode. The hybrid active noise suppression is supposed to dampen the environment by up to 40 dB.
The EarFun Air Pro 2 use touch controls and infrared sensors on the inside of the earphones, which detect when an earphone is removed from the ear and reinserted. If one of the earphones is removed from the ear, playback pauses. If it is reinserted, playback continues. This works reliably, but with a significant delay of around 2 seconds when an earphone is removed from the ear. The onset of music when the earphones are reinserted, on the other hand, is much faster and takes place without any annoying delay.
The touch control distinguishes between single, double and triple tapping and holding down the touch surface. Playback is started and paused by double-tapping any earphones. Tapping it three times jumps to the next title on the right and one title back on the left.
The volume can adjust with a single tap. It is increased on the right earphone and reduced on the left.
The voice assistant of the connected smartphone can be called up by pressing and holding the touch surface on the right earbud for around 2 seconds. On the left earphone, this gesture switches through the different sound modes: “ANC”, “Transparency mode”, and “Normal”.
Audio Quality
The EarFun Air Pro 2 is good overall but shows minor details because the bass lacks power and volume. Although it is differentiated, it does not develop intense pressure.
The highs do not have this problem; they are also clearly differentiated, satisfactorily, and sound convincing. They only start to hiss at high volume, which is more or less important depending on the title. With the guitars in Scott Street by Phoebe Bridgers and Your Power by Billie Eilish, the EarFun Air Pro 2 have no problems, which is why even significantly more expensive models failed in the test field.
If you do not expect the very best sound from the comparatively cheap in-ear headphones, you will not be disappointed by the EarFun Air Pro 2.
The ANC itself produces an immediately audible attenuation of the environment but is less effective than the Apple AirPods Pro and even more than the Sony WF-1000XM4 or the Bose QuietComfort earbuds.
The filtering also works almost exclusively at low frequencies. When the ANC is activated, chirping birds or voices sound almost like when the ANC is deactivated, and their volume is also not reduced. Many high frequencies remain of the white noise in undiminished volume—the EarFun Air Pro 2 filter all everyday noises rather poorly, but monotonous low frequencies well.

EarFun uses the latest version of the wireless standard with Bluetooth 5.2. The manufacturer calls the chipset Airoha AB1562A. In addition to the audio codec SBC, AAC is supported. The headphones, therefore, lack an HD codec, which is the norm in this price range. You also have to do without Google Fast Pair for faster coupling with an Android device.
The EarFun Air pro 2 does not offer “Bluetooth Multipoint” either. Therefore, it is not possible to connect the earphones to more than one device at the same time to be able to switch between them seamlessly. If you want to change from one device to another, you must manually disconnect the Bluetooth connection before establishing one. The second terminal itself cannot initiate the disconnection of the active connection.
Conclusion!
The EarFun Air Pro 2 again offer a lot for their price, even if the recommended retail price of $80 is applied, which is not due at the start. However, the EarFun Air Pro 2 does not offer the low latency mode of the EarFun Free 2.
For this price, you get in-ear headphones with a good sound that has too little power in the bass and hisses a little in the highs at maximum volume. The ANC falls short of the advertised capabilities and again filters mainly low frequencies, but is not entirely ineffective, so it is a nice bonus, especially considering the price.
However, two problems are annoying in everyday life. On the one hand, the sluggish operation, which implements touch actions too slowly, and the slow wear detection, only pauses the music with a delay when removing an earphone. On the other hand, the charging case, which is much too slippery and difficult to open.
