Huawei MateView GT is the second high-end monitor introduced to the market. It is distinguished by its design, curved screen, and built-in soundbar.
The Huawei MateView GT PC monitor is gaming-oriented. It is a variant of the classic Mateview, but their only common point is the audio (2 microphones and 2 speakers of 5W).
Its curved screen measures 34 inches, with a display in WQHD (3440 x 1440 pixels) with a ratio of 21: 9, a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz, a contrast ratio of 4000: 1 and a brightness of up to 350 nits. It has full connectivity (USB, DisplayPort USB-C and HDMI).

There are no overcomplicated, colorful elements known from gaming equipment. There is a solid, metal foot and a plastic monitor with relatively thin frames around the screen. The only gaming accent is the strap located on the base, which is also a soundbar.
We can set the backlight in any color and add an animation to it but not have to. Moving, blinking, or swimming. The bar is also tactile, and with its help, we can easily adjust the volume level. It’s convenient, and it looks pretty good too.

Huawei has simplified its design as much as possible, but also the installation of the monitor. No screws to put since the screen is simply wedged on foot using a system of metal notches. If we were doubtful initially, it turns out that the slab is very well hung and that the maintenance is exceptionally reliable. In terms of solidity, the screen fulfils its contract. It does not move at the slightest shock and remains stable even if handled. It is also possible to hang it on a VESA mount if you wish. With the foot, the product weighs 9.5 kilos.
The Mateview GT is also very flexible; the screen part can rise and fall to a height of 14 centimetres to almost stick to your desk in its lowest position. It can also tilt 25 degrees. Convenient to place it exactly how you want it. However, it should note that it does not rotate and should be used exclusively in landscape mode.
As for the back cover, Huawei keeps it simple. We have a brushed plastic shell with the simple mention of the brand above the clip. The connection is hidden under a magnetic cover and is therefore easy to remove if necessary. The ports are placed on the bottom, which does not make them very accessible, but it is not so bad on this type of screen.

The Huawei MateView GT has a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels (UWQHD, Ultra Wide Quad HD) and shows a sharp picture with a pixel density of 110 pixels per inch (110 dpi).
The refresh rate of the monitor is up to 165 Hertz (images per second). Fast games like “Overwatch” and “League of Legends” run smoothly, and the sharpness does not decrease even when moving. The response time averaged a short 10 milliseconds (ms), but depending on the brightness level, switching times three times as long led to a mediocre rating on this point.
In terms of colours, the monitor was all the more convincing. The deviations in colours and grayscale were very small. The monitor completely displayed the standard colour space of websites, films and games (sRGB), 90 per cent of the extended DCI-P3 colour spectrum. Image and video editing programs particularly benefit from the natural colour display. The reflective screen surface can be annoying if users have a window or a lamp on their backs.
Performance
Huawei has equipped the monitor with three functions that provide advantages when gaming. The “Dark Field Control” feature brightens dark areas in the game, making opponents more visible. This can be an advantage, especially with first-person shooters such as “Counter-Strike – Global Offensive” or “Call of Duty – Warzone”. If you want to see the frame rate while paddling, you can use the “Refresh Rate” function to display it. With the “Crosshair” feature, the screen shows an adjustable red or green crosshair. These are all excellent gimmicks for gamers.
The monitor functions are controlled by a small joystick located in the middle of the bottom edge. All ports can be found on the back, behind a removable plastic plug.

The connection, precisely, goes to the point. We have two HDMI 2.0 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 port, a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm jack port, and a second USB Type-C port; this one is only dedicated to power. Moreover, note that the screen has an external power supply the size of an ultraportable, discreet.
We regret the absence of a “channel” or unique notch to bring together and hide the different threads. There is just a velcro fastener to fix it, which is suitable for quality cable management and a bit outrageous when you see the overall finish of the screen.
Conclusion!
The Huawei Mateview GT is a screen that perfectly fulfils its purpose. With an excellent finish (failing to have a striking design) and an extremely well-calibrated panel with a high contrast ratio, it offers an admirable experience.
Thanks to the high refresh rate, crisp resolution and fast response time, gaming on the super-wide MateView GT is fun. However, Huawei could have saved the soundbar. It looks chic but doesn’t bring the sonic opulence to the big picture. For loud sound, you need separate PC speakers or a gaming headset.
